It’s one of the few yaoi anime that doesn’t just try to please its viewers. The anime movie shows both the cool and boring things about living on the edge of the law. In fact, there are a lot of funny conversations and smart exchanges in it. It’s not always sexual, romantic, or full of action.
A story about a classy and smooth-talking yakuza boss and his bear of a bodyguard who just got out of jail is a good example of character-driven writing.Įven though the title, “Tweeting Birds Never Fly,” seems wrong at first, it is actually a sad summary of the events that shaped them and the sad reality that awaits them, especially in the world they live in.
